Thanksgiving

The stomach flu has been returning every couple of days. It was Tom's turn last night. We canceled all visitors. Peter and Karl are the only two left. The boys are busy and Gerrilyn is trying to salvage the holiday. There is always room to be thankful to the Lord. No circumstances should get in the way of us being thankful.

Our Home, A Haven

In the past months, the Lord has used our family and our home as a haven for those in distress. Most recently, one of these families may be here to stay! Our children may grow from 4 to 8....from 3 girls and 1 boy, to 3 girls and 5 boys. We are awaiting legal procedures, and if they rule in our favor, our children will range from 21 months-28years. Please pray with us as we begin the parenting journey over again. That our home would truly be a haven where Christ is revealed, in our service to Him.

Desired Haven

We have always desired that our home would be a haven...a place of refuge and refreshment, away from the distractions of the world. A little over 10 years ago, our family took a vacation to the east coast. While there, we visited the Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester, Mass....the memorial reads "THEY THAT GO DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS." Later, we found Psalm 107.

"Some went down to the sea in ships,doing business on the great waters; they saw the deeds of the Lord, his wondrous works in the deep.
For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea.
They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits' end.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders." Psalm 107:23-32

This became the theme of our trip, and the theme of our lives. No matter the storm that tosses our ship, we trust in the Lord for He will bring us to our desired haven of rest in Him!
